AI Shortlist Plays / Facts on your own site

Do we need a company facts page for AI engines to read?

Yes. Keep one page that states your core facts in plain sentences: legal and trading name, what you sell, who it is for, where you operate, when you started, and links to every profile you own. It becomes the record every other profile is checked against.

Effort: 3 to 5 hours

Who does it: Marketing lead, with the founder or a director for sign-off

Best for: B2B firms of 20 to 500 people

Evidence: Medium (Google Search Central, read 8 November 2026)

01 / WHY IT MATTERS

Why it matters.

Engines build their description of you from many pages. When those pages disagree, the engine picks one, or repeats both. A single page of plain facts on your own domain gives them, and the people who edit your directory listings, one record to agree with.

Google’s documentation on Organization structured data says the markup can help Google “better understand your organization’s administrative details” and that some properties are used “to disambiguate your organization from other organizations”. It recommends sameAs links to your other profiles and a foundingDate. The markup only helps if the visible page says the same thing.

02 / SELF-CHECK

The 10-minute self-check.

Open your About page and look for each of these, written as a sentence a stranger could quote:

  • Your company name exactly as you want it repeated.
  • What you sell, in one line, without slogans.
  • Who you sell to: industries, company size, regions.
  • Where you are based and the year you started.
  • Links to your LinkedIn page, directories and partner listings.

Anything missing or written only as a slogan is a gap the engines fill from elsewhere.

03 / STEPS

Steps.

  1. Write the facts as short declarative sentences: “Acme is a payroll software company for UK firms with 50 to 500 staff, founded in 2012 and based in Leeds.”
  2. Put them on your About page, or on a short facts section that the About page links to. Keep it crawlable text, not an image.
  3. List and link every official profile: LinkedIn, review directories, partner listings, Google Business Profile if you have one.
  4. Add Organization structured data that matches the visible facts, including sameAs and foundingDate.
  5. Date the page and name an owner who updates it whenever a fact changes.

Facts pages are one of the first fixes in our AI search visibility work.

05 / MEASURE

How to measure it.

  • Fact accuracy: ask each engine “What is [company]?” monthly and count wrong facts.
  • Profile match: share of your listed profiles that match the facts page exactly. Quarterly.
  • Last reviewed date on the facts page, never older than six months.
07 / SOURCES

Sources.

  • Prolinkage AI self-test (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overview, one run each), 6 November 2026.
