AI Shortlist Plays / Profiles the engines read

Does our LinkedIn company page change what AI says about us?

It can. LinkedIn is among the most-cited sources in AI answers to B2B questions, and engines read your company page for basic facts. Keep the About section identical to your facts page, and publish specific, useful posts on a steady calendar.

Effort: 2 hours to fix the page; 2 to 3 hours a week to post

Who does it: Marketing lead

Best for: B2B firms of 20 to 500 people

Evidence: Medium (Meltwater, reported 1 June 2026)

01 / WHY IT MATTERS

Why it matters.

Meltwater analysed 9.5 million citations in AI-generated answers across 16 B2B categories, and found LinkedIn was the second most-cited source, as reported by IT Brief on 1 June 2026. Other studies rank it differently, but they agree it is near the top for professional questions.

Two things on the platform matter: the company page, which engines use for facts such as founding year, size and location, and posts and articles, which can be cited as sources on a topic.

02 / SELF-CHECK

The 10-minute self-check.

Open your LinkedIn company page next to your facts page (play 06):

  • Do the name, founding year, location, website and industry match exactly?
  • Does the About section say what you do and for whom in its first two lines?
  • Have you posted something specific and useful in the last 30 days?
  • Do your posts link back to the page on your site that goes deeper?
03 / STEPS

Steps.

  1. Correct the page fields to match your facts page word for word.
  2. Rewrite the About section: first line what you do and for whom, then services, market and proof with dates.
  3. Plan one or two posts a week, each answering one buyer question with your own evidence.
  4. Link each post to the matching page on your site, in the post or the first comment.
  5. Ask colleagues to reshare with a line of their own; company-page reach on its own is small.

05 / MEASURE

How to measure it.

  • Fact match: company page fields against your facts page. Quarterly.
  • LinkedIn in sources: how often linkedin.com is cited in your runs, and which pages. Monthly.
  • Referral sessions: GA4 sessions from LinkedIn to the linked pages. Monthly.
07 / SOURCES
